Bad weather preparedness!

The weather people are predicting ice and some snow for tomorrow.  Then some high winds to hit...well we have been without power for a week before so Danny checked the generator today, the fuel, and we have enough groceries for a month.  Are you prepared?

I plan to take down our Christmas tree and put away Christmas.

We live here (the little red house)in Michigan.  We shop in Battle Creek and in Kalamazoo.

The predicted storm has left many people hurting from Texas across the Midwest.  We are praying for the people in Texas that were hit by the tornados.  Be prepared and stay safe friends and family!

Coffee creamers

I love coffee and have since I was a little girl when my dad gave me half a cup coffee with 2 teaspoons of sugar and filled almost to the top with milk.  I continue to look for that perfect cup of coffee.  I first love the aroma of roasted coffee.  Even when I don't need to buy coffee, I will stop at Meijers at the coffee grinder and linger in the area just so I can smell that beautiful aroma.  We are creatures of habit so over the years we have purchased Folgers just like mom and dad then one day we got a cup of Maxwell...now we are hooked on Maxwell House.

I like to have my crazy coffee in the morning while we do Bible study...crazy coffee is 1 T of coconut oil and a touch of butter blended with my hot fresh cup of coffee then I top it off with a couple of T of amaretto creamer.  Now I almost go into a panic when I can not purchase my creamer, I watch for it in every grocery store!  Where am I going with this you ask...well, I have came very close to running out before I found my next supply of amaretto creamer so I went on a search to see what I could do to make my own.  Pinterest lead me to many sites.  I picked out 2 recipes and I am trying them out.

I mixed one can of sweetened condensed milk, I half and half with 2 t of almond extract and 1 t I'd cherry extract and poured this mixture into my new bottle I found on the 40% off sale at Tractor Supply.   I then made a fresh pot of coffee and tried it out...not as good as my Amaretta creamer...so then I whipped up another batch but this time I used dry ingredients except for the extracts.

I used my blender...1 c sugar blended with the 2 t almond extract and 1 t cherry extract.  It clumped so I waited a short time and then added coffee creamer.  It smells good but I wanted to be able to sleep tonight so I am holding off that taste test until tomorrow...I will get back with you!

Love my new bottle and will continue to tweak the Amaretta creamer recipe.

Frosty, foggy Sunday morning

Evan spent the day with us today...Saturday...Dec 04, 2015.  A busy day going to Scrapaloo at Delton and then to Hobby Lobby in Battle Creek getting his Mommy's birthday present.
But what he loves to do is be outside.  We went for a walk down to the lake.

Papa, Eistein, and Evan heading down to the lake.  The air has a chill and the sun is setting.

Climbing up the peak as we head back home.  We repeated climbing on the peak many times before we went in the house to have our supper.

Playing in the dirt is a big activity on our walks.

I am excited today, well, I am glad to see the sun!  I love the way the lake's color changes as the sky changes.

We admire the houses around the lake that are all lite up with Christmas lights but we just put up the tree and get out the Christmas ornaments with our family history.  This old Santa is over 20 yrs old.

Thank you Lord Jesus for another beautiful day.  We pray for the survivors of The awful shooting in California during a Christmas party.  We pray for this country, please bless us and return those that are against us to their home countries.  Help us to defeat Satan and again make us a nation under God.

Feeling blessed to live on Fine Lake

Today is cold and cloudy with temp at 46 degrees this afternoon.  We had rain during the night and gray skies until 2 PM.  I can see trees moving in the winds and the lake is rough...a good day to stay inside and to clean house and laundry.  Danny is in his shop working on a woodworking project so he just popped in for a sandwich for lunch.  No more Thanksgiving left overs!

for more pictures that I have taken at Fine Lake see:  http://docs.com/sarita-coffman/4769

I stop and reflect on our many blessings today in the peace and quiet of our home.  We have two large windows that look down on the lake.  I see a walker now and then go by on East Hickory but around the lake it is very quiet today.  The trees are bare now waiting on winter to come and go.  The 12 inches of snow that fell in November has melted.  The weather man says we may get snow showers tomorrow...we will wait and see.

The birds are feeding today at the feeders, Cardinals, chickadees, yellow finches, sparrows, and blue jays...what beautiful creatures.

Our Bible study with Les Feldick is in 2 Cor. 2.  I marvel at God's great mysteries.  I am so thankful that God sent Paul to the Gentiles.  Paul was a very persistent man, have you ever noticed that God choses the right person to do the job and be where He wants them to be?

May the Lord Bless You.  Keep You, and Give You Peace!
